Two of Apple's Suppliers Begin to Ramp Up Hiring
Two of Apple’s top suppliers seem to be reportedly adding staff in an uptick in demand for their services going forward. The surge in hiring was expected by many as Apple starts to ramp up preparation for the year’s announcements, likely beginning with an iPad announcement in the coming month to two months.
TSMC, which manufactures Apple’s custom A-series chips and Hon Hai Precision, the parent company of Foxconn are the two which will be adding 5,000 new jobs each according to Reuters. The two companies have apparently begun posting recruitment for graduating Taiwanese university students.
As far as Hon Hai goes, the hiring surge is actually the largest of its kind in recent years. The company is said to be hiring largely research and development employees. The workers are said to head into automated production, e-commerce and robots. TSMC on the other hand is seeking to hire equipment managers.
All this hiring is likely for the “chock full of incredible stuff” that Apple CEO, Tim Cook, alluded to earlier, although he declined to go into specifics as to what customers can expect. It should be noted that Cook did caution against reading too much into any Apple supply chain happenings as well. Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see what’s in store for us.
