Default Firefox 19 Released for Mac OS X

The popular Firefox Web browser has received an update Tuesday morning with a handful of bug fixes, new features, and a brand new built-in HTML5-based PDF viewer. The PDF viewer, being based off of HTML5, is very zippy, and it looks good. It also eliminates the need for installing PDF viewer add-ons in Firefox, and it works across multiple platforms. The screenshot below shows the new built-in PDF viewer in Firefox 19:

In addition, the update also fixes a problem with WebGL pages not rendering correctly, fixes an issue with private browsing mode incorrectly saying you’re not in private browsing mode when you actually are, and fixes an issue with plugins not rendering when in HiDPI mode.

Some other changes in the update include performance enhancements, faster start up, and support for additional CSS elements including full-width text-transform, @page, and others. The full Firefox 19 release notes can be viewed here.

To get the update, you can to Firefox>About Firefox on Mac, and your update will begin downloading automatically. If you’re on Windows, you can go to Firefox>Help>About Firefox and your update will begin downloading. Alternatively, you can download the updates from the download links below:

I love how chrome made Firefox feel the need to call all of their updates a complete new Firefox. Firefox 1-10 took ages now they've released at least three a year
