Apple Appeals Pro-Samsung Ruling in Japan

While Apple continues its patent battle with Samsung, the Cupertino California company filed for an appeal of a Tokyo District Court ruling that said the Korean electronics giant didn't infringe on certain utility patents. Apple is currently appealing an August 31 decision which pointed towards Samsung not violating a patent for synchronizing music and video with data servers. According to Bloomberg, this brought about a subsequent order for the Cupertino California company to pay legal fees associated with the suit.
The original ruling which was handed down by Judge Tamotsu Shoji found Samsung’s Galaxy devices not in violation of Apple’s IP Patent No. 4,204,977. At the time, Judge Shoji said that it was “hard to believe the products belong to the range of technologies of the claimant,” ordering Apple to pay the costs of the lawsuit. Apple originally filed its Japanese complaint against Samsung in 2011 where it sought out 100 million yen (roughly $1.3 million) in damages on claims that the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Tab were in violation of the media syncing patent. Samsung’s lineup is still sold by Japan’s largest wireless carrier, NTT DoCoMo.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens next in the ongoing patent dispute between the two tech giants.

Have y'all noticed that Apple loses a lot overseas in these court battles.

That's because US has a unique patent system that is very favorable to software and other things that are tech related. Plus they're a US company

Apple really need to grow up and let there be competition and instead of suing them to remove the competition make a better device than the competition. Thats the smart way to do business but Apple arn't that smart to realise that.

I dont like how you guys think this makes companies less competitive. So instead of samsung just using apples technology and adding a bigger screen why dont they make their own technology thats better?
oh and saying "Apple arn't that smart to realise that." is kind of hypocritical based on your grammar..

I second that....
A home company will always win on home turf. its that simple. We are no one to judge. I'm guessing they're both part and parcel of the whole lifting / inspired ideas from each other. After-all its just business.
Apple is smart. Rule no 1 of any business. Kill the competition. If you can't buy 'em, break 'em. I support apple here. only because their devices are far better built than any other company. (personal opinion)Last edited by kalpesh78; 10-17-2012 at 09:49 AM.

What is with all the "killing the competition" comments? So if Apple had won this case, and Samsung had to pay 1.3 million dollars...Samsung would be "killed", or "removed" from competition?? Apple is smart enough to know they are not getting rid of any competition from these lawsuits which amount to a petty amount of money to these billion dollar companies. The way some of you talk about Apple and how stupid they are...you should probably know this too.

Ok. Maybe not killed. but weakened to a great extent, none-the-less. Apple is smart enough to 'earn' money just through lawsuits. its a great plus for them. right?
Like i said... Its just plain business. If you have a better product you can afford to do all this.

And now they lose their appeal in the UK and have to post adverts that state that Samsung tablets did not infringe.
Not a waterboy for Android OR Apple.
