Default Facebook SDK 3.0 Beta Released with iOS 6 Integration

Facebook recently released a major iOS SDK update for developers as they promised to a few weeks ago. SDK 30 Beta is packed with features that will help enable iOS developers to start taking advantages of Apple’s newfound relationship with the social network.

During Apple’s WWDC keynote last month, Apple announced system-level Facebook integration into both the Mac OS X and iOS 6. It gives the users an additional outlet to share content but also means that there won’t be a need for OAuth. For those of you who didn’t already know, OAuth is an app that asks you to authenticate yourself through Facebook, forcing you into the Facebook app or website. In iOS 6, Facebook login credentials will be available system wide so it won’t be needed.

One of the most exciting things about SDK 3.0 for iOS (as pointed out by MG Siegler) is the fact that there isn’t much a lot of talk about HTML5. It seems that it’s all “Native” and “Objective-C.” This reiterates that Facebook’s app is going to be getting a much-needed makeover. The SDK is still obviously in beta, similar to how iOS 6 is as well. This fall, we’ll probably be seeing a number of Facebook-dependent applications. In the meantime, anyone who wants to check out the SDK can do so by clicking here.
