Default The Note New Corporate Hires Get Their First Day at Apple

Attached above is the letter Apple greets recent corporate hires with on their first day of work.

The letter can be interpreted a few ways:

    1. This is the inspirational beginning of something special and the culmination of years of schooling and professional experience. The work will be challenging, but game changing and the compensation makes iit worth it.

    2. This is your indoctrination into the Jobsian way of life. You will be over worked (stay weekends), forced into mandatory overtime in order to succeed/meet deadlines. You pray five times a day toward the grave of Jobs.

    3. Thank you for the complementary rolling papers, I can’t believe I passed the drug-test and got this job.

Jokes aside, this note is pretty standard as far as “welcome to the team” letters go. I was hoping for some VALVE-esque welcome to Apple-handbook:

“While people occasionally choose to push themselves to
work some extra hours at times when something big is
going out the door, for the most part working overtime for
extended periods indicates a fundamental failure in plan-
    ning or communication.” — VALVE
“Of all the people at this company who aren’t your boss,
Gabe is the MOST not your boss, if you get what we’re saying.” — VALVE
"Parking Garage Elevators—Autonomous hostage-taking devices with a will
of their own. Beware.” — VALVE
“Valve Activities—You will learn to love blacksmithing.” — VALVE
What’s the best “welcome aboard” letter/notification/ceremony/initiation you’ve received?
