Default Everything's Bigger in Texas, Including Apple's New Campus

As MMi reported March 2nd, Apple recently launched a new page on Apple.com showcasing the important contributions made by the iDevice-maker to the U.S. economy, mostly by "creating" or "supporting" 514,000 new jobs.

It now appears as though that number will increase by another 3,600.

Today, it was announced that Apple is going to spend upwards of $300 million on a new Austin, Texas-based campus, which will create thousands of new jobs. The news came this morning from the office of Governor Rick Perry.

"Apple is known for its bold innovation and game-changing designs, and the expansion of their Austin facility adds to the growing list of visionary high-tech companies that have found that Texas' economic climate is a perfect fit for their future, thanks to our low taxes, reasonable and predictable regulations, fair legal system and skilled workforce" Gov. Perry said. "Investments like this further Texas' potential to become the nation's next high-tech hub."

The deal, however, won't be final until the remaining contracts are completed and authorized by governmental agencies and other power-players involved. But no major hangups are expected.

In return for Apple's commitment to create these new jobs, Texas has offered Apple "an investment of $21 million over ten years through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF)," which Governor Perry's office says was designed to offer companies incentives to invest in Texas.

Land is cheap and there are plenty of it in TX.
If you don't mind the hurricanes/tornado and you get a big tax break from state which I have no doubt Apple received, why wouldn't you have something in TX?

Forget that! For most people, sophistication is a facade. We've got too many people here in Dallas that think they're high class but don't realize they look like fools! BTW, Steve Jobs wasn't sophisticated, was he?
