Apple Reportedly Sold 1.2 Million MacBook Airs Over Holiday Quarter

Despite frequently taking a PR backseat to the company's iDevice line, Apple's MacBook Air remains an incredibly popular product that likely saw record holiday sales during the last quarter of 2011.
According to sources from the far east supply chain, Apple is thought to have sold approximately 1.2 million MacBook Air units during the holiday quarter that just ended. If accurate, that figure would represent a dramatic sales increase over the previous quarter.
"Apple is the only vendor that managed to keep its fourth-quarter notebook shipments staying at the same level recorded in the third quarter," Digitimes reports, "and even saw its shipments of MacBook Air models increase to 1.2 million units in the fourth quarter from one million in the previous quarter."
Although Apple typically lumps all Mac sales together in one nice, round number, MacBook Air sales may have been so strong that Apple will provide insight into how many units were sold last quarter when the company kicks off its next quarterly earnings conference call on January 24th.
