Default Apple's November Web Traffic Beats Out Walmart, eBay and Nearly the NYT

According to comScore Apple is now the 13th most-visited website in all of the U.S. of A.

The numbers and analysis are part of comScore’s November 2011 Media Metrix study. Apple’s position, in terms of web-traffic, puts them ahead of eBay, Walmart, and barely behind the New York Times. Apple and its web properties suckered in 79.2 million unique visitors during November.

However, these numbers are a far cry from Google and Microsoft who garnered 186.7 million, and 175 million unique visitors respectively. Yahoo took third with 174.5 million unique visitors and somehow Facebook only managed fourth place with 166 million unique visitors. On second thought, that is over half the population of the U.S. visiting a single social network, pretty dang impressive.

Even more impressive, digital content is finally starting to reach the masses, as e-books, TV Shows, music and movies represented the fastest growing e-commerce sector. In fact digital content sales are up 30 percent year-over-year.

Apple’s growth is encouraging, especially a 13% increase in traffic compared to last year’s 69.9 million unique visitors during the month of November. The real question though, how many of these unique visitors turn into Apple customers?

Safari slows down my main Mac so I use chrome. If I use chrome on one I need chrome on the other.

I wonder if this excludes all the traffic from Macs and iDevices when they first connect to WiFi. They attempt to load an Apple.com website to see if you have some sort of web authentication required (such as at a hotel where you have to put in a passcode).
