Early 2012 Refresh on Tap for MacBook Air?
A report out of the far east this morning suggests that Apple may introduce a refreshed MacBook Air early in the new year. The prospect of Apple doing such is being raised today in a story published in the popular Asian trade publication DigiTimes.
The refresh in question would have Apple expanding its line of ultra-thin notebooks with a new offering altogether. More specifically, the popular line will see a new 15-inch model, likely before the first quarter of 2012 wraps up.
"The sources noted that related upstream players have already started pilot production of the MacBook Air models and will add a 15-inch model into the product line to expand its reach in the ultra-thin notebook market," the report reads. Of course, we've been privy to such reports of a 15-inch MacBook Air before. This time around, however, Apple is said to have resolved previous engineering and component issues which have delayed the introduction of the new model until now.
The DigiTimes piece also indicates that Apple will begin reducing the price of its existing MacBook Airs before launching its refreshed series - a move that would all but certainly help to further grow Apple's share in the global notebook market.

Exactly. I held off on the MacMini because until 2 months ago, it had a decade old core 2 duo in it! Finally got a quad core, and rumors of an Apple TV start flowing. I'm waiting for the Apple tv and the Air to get a quad core. Not budging til then.
