Exactly, if you know the IP address / port number of the host, then you can still connect to it. Thing is, if Europe can make an alternative to GPS (sending high tech equipment into space that is more accurate than GPS costing billions of euros), then I'm sure they can make a compatible alternative to DNS... Would be a good chance to roll out IPv6 system wide in a single move :P

The Federal government no longer cares what is constitutional. They are out to create a socialist/fascist state and the Internet is a threat to that. More so than radio, books, or television ever were. If you control how people communicate, you control them. This legistlation is pure evil. While it may have been formed with good intentions, the end result only throws the country back to the 1940's.

I live in country that does not have a bill of rights. We have no first amendment and no rights. Whatever you Americans do, you must fight your government's attempt to remove your right to free speech.

I fully understand how naming servers work, specifically why I stated the "internet" as we know it would be gone. Of course I can set up all my friends and we can route all our servers and still have our own smaller networks, but it would cause a LOT of work arounds to rebuild the infrastructure again. @Kavok, you are absolutely correct. It is pure evil. But everything is for a capital game or for monopoly. drink more sodium fluoride, it'll be alright. I promise.

If the US government do start banning internet sites/ companies, the internet is pretty much screwed as most of the servers running the internet are US based, which the government therefore can stop. Presumably about upto 80% of internet traffic and servers are in the US.
