The reason it isn't a global trait is because it only works for applications coded in Cocoa at the moment. Since programs can be written in several different languages, not all of them can support the features that Apple has provided for their Cocoa applications. This makes it necessary for coders to build in Cocoa support so that the full screen support will work on Mac OS X Lion. Firefox is built on Cocoa, so all they need to do is add a few lines of code with their next update. I'm really hoping they do soon. Even chpwn's Maximizer hack only works with Cocoa applications such as Skype, Firefox, and App Store.

Thank you for your explanation that Lion's full-screen applies to Cocoa applications. This still doesn't explain why any program can't be full-screen'ed in a simple/default manner, which would just re-size it to fill the whole screen and auto-hide the menu-bar.

I only use Firefox for porn, thanks ad block, although in regards to the updates, my Firefox keeps updating but the icon stays stuck on V6 beta 4, and im too lazy to completely u install it and reinstall it
