Apple HDTV Coming Soon, Says Report

For nearly three years we've heard rumblings about Apple's supposed plans to create and launch connected-television models in the near future. Following reports last week that late Apple CEO Steve Jobs revealed in his new biography that he had "cracked' the formula for an integrated futuristic connected television set, talk has once again surfaced that Apple will soon roll out a branded HDTV.
"I'd like to create an integrated television set," Jobs told Walter Isaacson. "It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud... It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it."
According to published reports Monday, analyst Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray dished in a new correspondence with investors that sources close to Apple confirmed that the company has been building prototype models of the new high-definition television set since September.
Munster says Apple could use the new Siri voice activated system "to bolster its TV offering and simplify the chore of inputting information like show titles, or actor names, into a TV."
"We believe that of the estimated 220 million flat panel TVs sold in 2012, 48% or 106 million units will be internet-connected, of which Apple could sell 1.4 million units," Munster writes. "We believe an Apple Television could add $2.5 billion or 2% to revenue in CY12, $4.0 billion or 3% in CY13 and $6.0 billion in CY14."

I want it! Makes me think back to old movies. "TV on", "Turn to channel 11", yeah, it's going to be pretty sweet.

And then they can sue the other TV Manufacturers for using a rectangle shape too.I really don't care how many reports come out. I honestly don't see it being a better business model to make an Apple branded (but Samsung made) TV.It still makes more sense to just use the AppleTV Box and enable the same content and functionality to every single TV already in peoples homes.

Probably. But as soon as Apple comes up with something like that, Samsung would embed that same kind of functionality it in their own TVs. In this case, it would probably make sense for Apple to compete on the same level. It would be awesome to have Siri also on TV.

Siri on the TV....not good. How many people have had a fight over the remote control in their life time? All of you at some stage I suspect. Now you'll have: "Siri change to channel 101""Siri change to channel 202""Siri change to channel 101""Siri change to channel 202""Siri change to channel 101""Siri change to channel 202""Siri change to channel 101""Siri change to channel 202""Siri change to channel 101""Siri change to channel 202"

I would think that the iTV would have all the built-in features that Apple TV has, plus more. They would do something like the 4s Siri-Only feature. So they wouldn't completely shut out people that don't buy the iTV, just entice them with bigger, better features and functionality.
Good thing I've been saving up my monies =D there goes my partial down payment of a house lol

That already happens with remote controls - nothing new - but I would rather say: "Siri, change to Discovery Channel" or "Siri, find me a sci-fi movie made in 2011" or "Siri, set to record all new episodes of Family Guy" or "Siri, what are the best rated tv shows at the moment? (siri lists) Please, record XXXXX" or "Siri, play the movie Horrible Bosses" or...

"Siri put dirty dancing back in"
"Siri how do you get your girlfriend to behave like a freak Like a pussycat doll?"
