Jobs Biography Hints at Possibility of an Apple HDTV
Steve Job's biography is nearly in the hands of the public and as it release date nears the number of leaks regarding its content continue to rise. One the more interesting leaks—from a product standpoint—is an excerpt that strongly hints at the possibility of an Apple HDTV being released or at lest in development.
While many, including myself, have been extremely dismissive about Apple entering the HDTV marketplace (the margins are razor thin) the following excerpt uncovered by the Washington post goes against all the Apple intuition many of us have accumulated over the years.
He very much wanted to do for television sets what he had done for computers, music players, and phones: make them simple and elegant," Isaacson wrote.
Isaacson continued: "‘I'd like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use,' he told me. ‘It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud.' No longer would users have to fiddle with complex remotes for DVD players and cable channels. ‘It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it.
The above excerpt by no means is a confirmation that these Apple HDTVs exist, but the last two sentences "It will have the simplest interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it," make me believe Apple has something up their sleeves that is going to change the way people consume television.

When rumors first starting going around about Apple entering the TV market, it was rumored that they would contract Samsung to actually produce the TVs, and that the TVs would run some type of iOS. I would love to be able to just pick and choose what I want to pay for by buying season passes for certain series, but at the same time I like to turn on my TV and just watch something. In todays economy they would have to have set prices very competitively, or offer something that no other TV can(iTunes access). But I'm not sure it would be worth the extra money. But it would be nice to start watching something on your TV, stop it, and finish watching it while on break at work, or on a bus or train on the way to work. Although Comcast already offers something like that on the iPad.

Apple TVs are going to be way overpriced just like their computers.
Only Apple fans will get one.

Ugh.. i don't even want to think of a $3000+(for higher end models) in Apple pricing.
But maybe we're going to get the iTV for real this time.
Thinking about it, maybe Apple called it Apple TV instead because they wanted to save iTV for their Television set.
