With the rumors of an imanent release of OS X Lion in the coming weeks, and today being the first day of July, it's no surprise that Apple has now seeded the Gold Master Release Candidate of OS X Lion.
There are some reports that certain devs are having trouble downloading the new release, they've been getting a "We'll be back soon" message, leaving them unable to try the (supposedly) final beta release before public launch sometime this month.
We reported yesterday that the most likely date for public release is Tuesday, July 19. There is a separate set of reports that say Lion may be released as early as July 6, a Wednesday, which is a common day for software updates, but uncommon for hardware releases, which are usually done on Tuesdays. It seems Apple will have to decide whether to stick to a different day for Hardware or software release.
We'll keep you updated with any changes we notice in the latest build. Devs should be able to download from Apple now, if you're still having trouble check back again a bit later.

All of my important apps had updates the past week for Lion. So this is exciting to now not worry about my apps working right away. So Lion will be day 1 purchase.

Oh it's going to be a day 1 purchase for me too. If an app breaks, I can always run SL off a USB drive until it's fixed.-FBIRyuJin

I went to a local electrical store near me (PC World UK) and I went to the Apple section which then I asked an Apple representative when Mac OS X Lion would be out and he simply replied with July 30th so I would expect it to come out then.

I want an option to make the safari gesture to go back/forward a page to swipe between tabs instead

Unless you have a developers account you can't download it.
Rumor is July 6th as a release date so not sure.

I'm a realist. And I'm going make a guess in saying the new MacBook Airs won't be released until the Fall. And we'll most likely have to wait till the bitter end of July for Lion.

This is their first digital only distribution so not sure yet on how that will play out. If you buy it right away it probably will come with snow lepord and download code.
