OS X Lion: Release The Beast Within For Only $29.99

Apple announced today during the WWDC that OS X Lion will cost a mere $29.99. Score one for cheapskates everywhere.
Also, the new version of OS X will be available only by download through the new Mac App Store as a 4GB download. The download will be able to be installed on all of your authorized Macs. This upgrade is considerably cheaper than the usual OS X upgrades of $129. Also, with no discs being available, and the price point so incredibly low, what in the world are pirates going to do?
Apple has effectively made their software available through one location. There are no resellers. No physical copies. Slowly but surely the Mac universe will only be available when and were sir Jobs sees fit. Talk about vertical integration.

And if I'm running 10.5.8 that doesn't allow the app store, I'm out of luck..?
So I'll have to buy / upgrade to Leopard first... How much money will this cost me?Interesting.

When you begin the install in lion, it makes a recovery partition like the PC laptops that come w/o recovery discs. In the event you need a fresh restore, you'll have this partition to do so which is great.

I don't understand... Does this mean that the Mac will never come with OS X Lion pre-installed? Or will Apple make this the only way to get OS X Lion?

Was hoping that it would go on sale on both. Really was hoping they would do a USB drive like the AIR's have. But oh well. Hopefully someone will make it USB bootable real quick.
