Some Apple Customers Invited to Test Pre-Release Version of Lion
Select Apple customers are currently receiving invitations to participate in Apple's software seeding project. This program is designed to give average users a chance to try out a pre-release version of Mac OS X Lion. Customers who participate in the testing program are required to sign confidentiality agreements prior to receiving the software.
This program is being used to help Apple test the upcoming release of Mac OS X Lion. Apple customers who participate in the program will not receive any compensation for their troubles, however, they will have access to Lion before it is released to general public. Apple hopes to test new features and perform early compatibility testing in a variety of computing environments so that engineers can iron out any problems before the final product ships.
Although Apple suggests users participating the program use this software for their daily computing needs, they also do not recommend using this version of Lion for critical computing tasks. Users will have access to special forums so they can discuss any problems that may arise while using this software.
If you're looking to sign up for this program to get your hands on Apple's latest and greatest version of Mac OS X, but you're not a developer, unfortunately you are out of luck. The only way to get in on this program is to receive an invitation from Apple directly. It's currently unknown just how many customers have been invited to participate in this program. All I know is that I wasn't one of them.

It's quizzical to me as to how they would choose which customers would be appropriate to participate in the testing. If it would be more of a "luck of the draw" type thing, or if they somehow have statistics showing which customers would utilize the program more so than others to actually make the testing effective.

Psh average customers? So you mean people who listen to Kesha and check Facebook every 2 seconds? Oh yeah I'm sure they'll test out the new features really well...

I wish I had a miniature elephant that fit in the palm of my hand. I would pick him up and he'd lift up his trunk and stand on his back legs and say PRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMPPPPPPPPPHHHHHHHH and I would say yes little elephant i love you too.

I would love to test it out myself. Can't wait for the release.

No joke. I got an invite a few days ago. Said "We have selected you, based on a referral and/or prior participation in our program" but I think they just chose me based on how much I complained in Apple Discussions about the lack of global tones on the iPhone (they kept censoring me/deleting me). I do go back to OS 10.0.2, and was really active on the support boards until the trolls and the high post number people took over, but who knows? I'm not a dev and don't do any coding. Installed Lion after a DL from App store to a partition on an external HD and it works. Haven't done much with it yet, busy at work, but I will.
BTW, I know what Facebook is (don't use it, let alone check it every two minutes), but what's a Kesha?Senior
