Default Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.6.7, available via Software Update

After releasing a slew of beta builds to developers as far back as January, Apple has updates Snow Leopard to version 10.6.7, and released it to the public. The update comes in at 312 MB, or as a 1.12 GB combo update download from stock Snow Leopard 10.6. According to the install notes, the update particularly affects Windows File Sharing (SMB), "various minor Mac App Store bugs," and fixes bugs for Back to My Mac.

I've installed it on my 2011 MacBook Pro and can report no glaring issues at all with the install (it's never a bad idea to wait a day or two after a software update, just in case there's a bug or two that could be avoided simply by waiting). I tested a file share and screen share via another iMac via Back to My Mac, and can report no problems.

As with any OS update, having a backup of your important data is always good. The update requires a reboot. You can access the download via Software Update or by heading here.

I don't use cracked apps coz i'm not a pirate and I believe the developers deserve to get paid for their work.

You want a cookie? A lot of people use cracked apps. If you can afford a $1,500 software suite like photoshop than more power to you. I wish I could purchase it. But Im a poor college student. The fact is that most people cant afford to pay for all the apps they depend on everyday. Not sure what you are trying to do except put yourself above others cause you say you don't pirate anything.

If you can't afford to buy the software it ok to become a thief?
Why not look for a cheap or free program instead? GIMP does most of what photoshop will, and is release under GNU.

No matter how you justify it, downloading cracked apps is stealing and you should be banned from mmi and prosecuted for theft.

Thanks for the feedback regarding the update working on Hackintosh's. However, I laughed at the irony of your above statement.

What irony? I paid for a copy of snow leopard to use on my hackintosh, installed it from the retail disk.

    Jesus!

All the guy did was ask question. A valid question at that. I'm curious to see if the Mac App Store update fixes the crack apps bug too.

But you all instantly jumped on the piracy bandwagon and slander the guy - maybe hiding your guilt huh?

Why is it a big deal if MMi users want to reply to others comments and debate about them?

As a moderator said, this isn't about pirating, ignore what the other guy said. We know you are a butt pirate looking to rob some booty.

No I don't used cracked apps. As osx goes, the highest I have is 10.4(iBook g3). So I have no Mac app store period.

However I do remember that the ability to get them was readily available when the Mac app store was released and I'm sure(though they won't admit it) many MMI users and others on the web use cracked apps and I was interested if Apple had somehow put in a system to block it.
If a user can specify exactly what they changed I'd be interested because I'm curious.
Sorry if I appear off topic or look like a d-bag, but the above mentioned is what I was wondering. Apologies.

The end. Let's talk no more of this

    See. A perfectly reasonable explanation.

You didn't look like a d-bag Johnr9412, but a good few others did.

Firstly all I said was that every piece of software I own is legitimate.

Secondly the mention of cracked apps came from someone else which incidently is piracy or more commonly known as theft, if one is has no interest at all in piracy then why mention it?

I failed to accuse anyone of anything - if thats how you interpreted my post then that is your tough luck.

For those that try to justify piracy, your arguments do not hold water. Developers deserve to get paid, when was the last time you got a take out and didn't pay or take a car you do not own. If you can't afford the software find an alternative. If you feel a piece of software is overpriced - tough find something else.

if you are gonna go to the trouble of critcizing me then at least be right to do so.

toothfairy, my appologies for still being off topic. Regardless of replies this is my last post on this subject.
