I'm a MobleMe paying subscriber, I love the auto-syncing of all my info with my Mac, iPhone and online. I think $99 is WAY overpriced.

I would always go to eBay, purchase a Buy It Now for less than $50 with shipping (some users will email the code in the box if you ask them, other's won't... but you get the official box anyway)

I love the MobileMe service, but it needs tons of new features, like Auto-syncing of important files (I use SugarSync for this) and a Cloud based iTunes would be fantastic! (It's too much trouble to sync between multiple computers.)

MobileMe has gone missing from Apple's online store. As a result, Apple has allegedly started telling third-party resellers that the folks in Cupertino have discontinued the $99 boxed versions of MobileMe. The development comes as Apple debuts no shortage of intriguing new offerings. As Paul covered this morning, Thursday brought with it a refreshed MacBook Pro model range, delivering updated "Sandy Bridge" Intel Core processors, AMD Radeon graphics, Thunderbolt I/O, and more.

The disappearance of the paid version of MobileMe, however, suggests that another longstanding rumor may be on the verge of proving correct. As it stands, Apple is believed to be readying MobileMe as a free service rooted in cloud-based digital lockers for one's multimedia. Heightening speculation toward this eventuality, during yesterday's annual Apple shareholders meeting, Apple revealed that its massive $1 billion North Carolina-based data center is about to come online - a reality that would expedite the rumored plans to send MobileMe to the clouds.

As always, any suspicion of Apple doing something in the clouds should be taken with a grain of salt. We all know that Apple has allegedly been readying a cloud-based iTunes service for as long as anyone can remember. We're yet to see the fruits of Apple's suspected labor on that front. But if MobileMe, in fact, does become a cloud-based service in the coming weeks, there may finally be reason to think that iTunes will follow closely thereafter.

I think the quoted source is a little off beings I've read other sources claiming different. MLA, back to basics.

Well if they offer it free than I hope I get a refund. I figured they pulled it because of the bugs reported to customers. The implementation of the new cal was a fail. At least with some customers.

Lastly, I must have alot of saved unrefreshed cash on my Mac because it's still there.

I suspect some components may become free but Apple will likely still charge for email and other "features."

Am I the only one who has ever been 'meh' over MobileMe? I kind of feel like the only function that I really use now is restoring of contacts and calendar information when I wipe and re-JB. Dropbox's cloud is nicer, and with minimal things actually on the MobileMe cloud, it's kind of boring. I dunno, maybe I'm picky.

Wow, everyone wants the best products out there however they want it free. Ridiculous!! In order to have the best guys, you have to pay for it. Not everything can be giving for "FREE".

I renewed back in December, for about $50, so when MobileMe goes free, I won't feel bad about it.

Yeah I renewed my MobileMe 2 weeks ago and this pisses me off if they do this.

I just unchecked the auto-enrol option under my MobileMe account settings, my membership runs out on the 11th March. Will just have to wait and see how it pans out...

Apple doesn't need to you give you anything. They might give you something, but they're not obligated to.

Apple stops shipping/selling macs/iphone/ipods when they update them and that doesnt mean they will be free they are probably updating packaging, instructions, and features of mobileme and maybe they want to sell down the in store stock so they dont have to take back as much when they switch it around i really doubt it will be free to many people will be pissed they might have some free stuff but i doubt that everything will be free they make to much money on it.
