Default Here's What We Know About the New MacBook Pros

With the veil over the new MacBook Pro apparently set to be lifted in just a few short hours, there's been a flurry of posts from of images of the new machines.

Today there's been a few shots posted of the left side of the new notebook, showing similar ports to the 2010 MacBook Pro, but most notably featured is the new Thunderbolt port which almost everybody at this point expects to be the inclusion of Intel's LightPeak technology.

It seems like the notebooks are running a new build of Mac OS X 10.6.6, Build 10J3210. This is a mildly different build than the current one for MacBook Pros, which leads us, and most of the tech world to believe that Apple is implementing Intel's Sandy Bridge Architechture.

The new computers are also shipping with a new version of FaceTime, version 1.0. It is unknown if any significant changes have been made to the software at this point.

We expect all the machines to be using Intel Core processors this time around. That means we'll most likely see a Core i3 or i5 for the 13 inch, and i5 and i7 for the 15 and 17 inch models. Of course, all of this should be explicitly revealed tomorrow. Until then, happy rumoring.

Then you could also just install windows with bootcamp and then you really won't need a pc lol.

It would have been cool if they used the USB form factor for lightpeak and included 3 of those ports for multiple types of devices.

Not trying to start a flame war or anything. The hardware I can get in other laptops for way less money. So could someone tell me what makes a outer casing & osX worth the price increase. I'll give Apple credit, the MacBook Pro looks really nice, as does the iMac.

Please don't flame me. I truly want to know. Like I said I am thinking about getting one. So basically I want someone to convince me it's worth the cost increase.
I'm sorry but it really aggravates me every time somebody does this. "convince me to buy one" really? Either buy it, or don't.

The picture is a FAKE. Just look at the label on the box that says "2.3 GHz". I highly doubt Apple is downgrading processors now...

Someone used photoshop on this one.

I finally gave MicroLimp the finger last month and switched to an MBP 13". I have had no regrets. My POS HP Vista machine took forever to boot. This takes less than one minute. I have not had to reboot once since I bought it. iTunes flies compared to a PC. The machine itself flies. Admittedly, my Vista machine was over two years old, but it wasn't that out of date.

When I want to watch a movie on my flat screen I just plug in my adapter and the movie plays. No need to mess around with several settings like in Windows to make everything work right.

I am completely sold on Apple products. I even convinced my Dad to switch from W7 to a MBA 13".

I know just playing with a machine in the store doesn't do justice to what these wonderful machines can do, but once you get it home and start tinkering with it I think you will be glad you switched.

    Well a 2.3 i5 with 3MB L3 cache would be faster than a 2.4 Core2Duo with 3MB L2 cache for the 13" models

I'm not excited about these updates. Nothing so far makes me consider selling my current Unibody 15" MacBook Pro bought in September 2009

Yes and as johnzo~ also pointed out. The port with the Thunderbolt label is exactly the same as the display port. Not real if you ask me. Not saying it isn't happening, just saying that this photo seems fake to me.

I absolutely love my 15" MBP and my wife has a 13" MBP and we have a 24" iMac. I will NEVER buy another windows computer again. Besides i run Desktop Parallels if i need to and it runs smooth as butter. But i really hardly ever run Windows as there is damn near a Mac version for every program i use. For people that dont want to fork out the extra money to buy a Mac cuz of the Spec comparison is dumb. My Macbook needs almost ZERO maintenance. No defrag ever needed, no anti virus installed, no anti adware installed until recently after 2 years of having my machine and it found ZERO viruses or adware. You try do that with a windows PC <-- LOL ya right. Blue screen of death on a windows PC is more often than me rebooting my MacBook Pro. Not even kidding.

@Cokeman what he is saying is true though..you want people to convince you to get one..if you want one buy it..if you prefer windows stick with your pc

If you feel it's overpriced then don't buy it. I remember the days when PC's costed nearly 2000 for a decent model...no one was complaining then?

Asking to convince you why it's worth the cost difference is indirectly trying to convince you to buy one....it Is basically the same thing..because COST plays a huge part in consumer roles..

Read reviews online or watch YouTube videos online about MacBooks

Personally, once I went Mac 3 years ago, I never went back. It's just an all around better OS it's user friendly.

Yeah but if you take a look at the labeling on the box it actually states that the thunderbolt port IS the display port. Not saying it's real or fake, but they are supposed to be the same port.

Yeah ok, I knew better than to ask on a website that is all about Apple products. Where I could hear from actual osx users, not some jerk salesman trying to make money. I will edit my post and remove everything.
