As to the appletv vs mac mini debate...$99 is a lot cheaper than the cost of a mac mini and it's a lot more friendly for people who don't want to sit with a trackpad/mouse and keyboard to control their tv. For me, the inconvenience and cost of a mac mini far outweighs the extra few things it would allow me to do that appletv doesn't.

I have two Apple TV's and love them. For $99 I can watch Netflixs in the bedroom or livingroom, etc. I have a launch model that has been jailbroken and has ATVflash Black on it, and the second is from x-mas so it is on the newer previously non-jailbreakable iOS. I want to try the GP but some have said you lose WiFi and the video up a 2 post shows a power cord being used. I have never had to plug in the power cable to JB my other ATV. Is this a GP thing? The WiFi issue is my biggest issue. SO of those of you that used GP on your ATV, did it work... WiFi and all?

02-13-2011, 11:20 AM #24Fix for no wifi after reboot
I found this in the XBMC forum, and I can confirm it worked for me. You need to know how to connect to your AppleTV via ssh. Note that if wifi is not working, you will need to connect your AppleTV via ethernet:
SSH in to your AppleTV, then:
apt-get remove com.nito.nitotv
apt-get install com.nito.nitotv

You don't like the iPad because you don't have one!

Is this gonna work for both Mac and windows? I have mine next to my tv so can I just plug it in to my router with Ethernet for it to work with wifi.

I am having the same problem on my Mac. either the app crashes or it starts to jailbreak, then the Jailbreaking button turns to Failed
is there a firmware that is too new for JB? I got my ATV2 around xmas.
Possible downgrade if this is the case? or shsh will have me screwed to downgrade?.

im having the same problem.
-when i got to the About section it says 4.1.1 and if i say update, atv2 says its up to date.
-launch greenpois0n and say Yes for atv2. follow the steps it says to do
-upon release of the play/pause and menu it looks like its trying to JB then after about 30 sec it returnts FAIDED
02-13-2011, 04:04 PM #40Success!
Ok here's the deal. The JB will not work on a Hackintosh.
I used windows JB instead. Failed first time. Used GP without power cord attached ( skipped that step ) and just the mini usb, and it worked.
Guess it's the same rule, iTunes won;t recognize the device with the power cord attached. Hope this helps someone!
