CrApple Store Blog Takes a Bite Out of Apple
Have you ever applied for a job at the Apple Store, only to be rejected for some unknown reason? Well, if the CrApple Store blog is any indication, you may have dodged a bullet. CrApple Store is a blog dedicates to shedding light on the inner workings of the retail side Apple. The identity of the blogger is still a mystery, mainly it would seem, because they are still employed at an Apple Store in the UK.
The CrApple Store states, “It began with a list of reasons why working for Apple Retail is f***ing sh**, and just spiralled (sic) out of control. I couldn't keep it inside anymore, and so have decided to share the hate with the rest of the world.” The blog paints a very different picture from what we have come to expect from Apple. CrApple goes on to say what a soul-crushing experience it is to work for Apple and has gripes with other Apple employees such as Specialists and “the holy Genius team.” Apparently, Apple employees do not even get a discount on iPad’s either.
Overall, the CrApple Store blog is an entertaining look into the experiences of one Apple employee finding it difficult to maintain sanity in the retail world. The blog reminds me of the movie Office Space in some ways, if blogging had been around back then. The CrApple Store blog is sometime funny, often bitter, but on the whole worth checking out.

I love it..... As he is holding an iPad still in the box!!!!!! I actually had an Apple employee tell me that while holding the product (It was for someone else) apparently for reservations only........ A55 Clowns...... LOL

Wow, I ended up reading the blog, it is very very straightforward and this guy or girl has it out for APPLE. Id have to say though you see most of the hype he has mentioned in all work environments on different scales. So apart of me is welcome to the real world of hard times and working with all kinds of different people. I feel it was extreme yet the videos are Hilarious. If management is this bad in Apple stores id imagine there wouldn't be any employees and im sure there customer service would be bull*&^%. Every company brainwashes there employees in some way Id say more of a motivation than brain wash, the more employees you have living apple then the better things will go. Bringing facts to the genius Bar for example saying others have had this problem I did my research and the genius bar employee wants to argue, no wonder management has to step in, your job is to save/make apple money and my job the buyer is to save/make money. Ultimately quit whining and be happy you have a job considering the dilemma most of the world is in.

That is pretty funny to read. There are a lot of people out in the world who are jobless right now and would gladly work for Apple and do it with a smile on their face

Princess who writes that blog should get slapped in the face for being spoiled and stupid. In reality some things are actually very simple- changing the job in this case. If you don't like your job, find another one. Otherwise shut the funk up and do what you are paid for.

Apple are not particularly nice to work for at their European HQ in Cork, Ireland either.
My Dad moved jobs to Apple about 8 years ago, but left again after only 9 months, and he wasn't just some random worker, he was head of Logistics for Europe.
I know a few people who've worked there too just outta college and none have lasted that long. The barely get a discount on products either. It's only marginally more than the student discount.
Most of what he says though seems to relate more to working in the US stores...things like the NY Store front being pompous, or people queueing for days, you don't really get that in UK

Really doesn't surprise me, with other blogs about the failings of Wal-Mart, etal. I sensed that when I 'visited' a store to replace my defective iPhone 4. The "Genius"es attempted to make me think I had no idea what I was talking about. When I corrected them (read:gave them face right back), they cowered and said "I've never seen one do that before...". Lessons Learned: Don't back down from any elitist.

I honestly think this guy/gal is just doing this for his/her "five anonymous minutes of fame"...they just crave the attention. We all have our complaints about our jobs. I work as a bagger at a supermarket and the managers and the owners are class-A pricks...but I'm not going to write a blog about it...and since I hate my job so much I'm currently looking to get a better one. Took a look at the site. Some of the stuff is just whining. Some of it is quite funny, and some is just plain eye opening. Should the guy just leave, probably but what's the fun in that. I wonder how many people that say he should just quit(fanboys) will read the site anyway. It won't take long anyway before Crapple(as this person says) has their lawyers attack this site So read while you can.

I have beef with Apple retail. In fact, I stopped going into the stores and dealing with people. I applied for a position back in October. I get called into one of their hiring event seminars and I was one of the youngest people there at the age of 21. I am also a student (studying IT), an Iraq veteran, and now in the Army National Guard coming out of Active duty on honorable terms. If I was to be hired by Apple, they'd have to let me off for just three days out of two months, which were on the weekends. They told me I wasn't qualified enough. Retail and taking a weekend off during seasonal is too much of a hassle I guess.

Having worked for Apple Retail as a Mac Specialist in the Woodlands Mall in Texas, I'd definitely say it was an awesome job that paid well - both emotionally and monetarily. And while Apple employees are not allowed to discuss the discounts they may or may not receive due to an intellectual/confidentiality agreement, I can at least attest to the bogusness of this story. They must really do things different in the UK.

Candypaint - Do you have any retail experience? Lots and lots of people are unemployed so I would be willing to bet you are competing against over qualified people with lots of experience. It really sucks but most employers get to hire the best and pay them crap.
As for the blog, guy just sounds whiney. Yes, some of the stuff is funny but come on, retail is retail. I managed an Abercrombie and Fitch store for a bit and 90 hours a week wasn't uncommon. Actually, one week I worked over a 100 and guess what, I was on salary. Did it suck, yes and that is why I found another job where I am my own boss and make 4 times what I made at AnF. His apple job is a job and a great stepping stone to get another, better job.
Yes, those meetings suck and nothing is worse then coming in on your day off but it is what it is. Yes, you have to talk up the stuff you are selling but hello, it is sales! If you don't like the products, why are you there? If it is because you couldn't find a job you like or want, be happy you have one at all.
Sorry, just like the others have said, we could all write blogs about our jobs like that. Chances are, this is a first job for him and he thinks he is overworked but they probably are not paying overtime so he is working a standard work week (actually, I don't know exactly how overtime works over there or if they have it). I bet his managers work wayyy more and hate their jobs too but have to remain happy and cheery to keep it.

some of that stuff may be true of the uk store HE works at but in my store (USA) none of what he says is the way it is! I LOVE my job and i find that all around we are supported in a huge way in everything we do and the training was phenomenal
