Whoa!, this might be dumb of me to ask, so if they are not now bringing out 4.2 and gonna bring out 4.2.1 instead does that mean all the rumors about the unlock for 4.2 release for the iphone 3GS amd iphone 3G does that mean that this won't be happening anymore cos of the release of 4.2.1 so the unlock will have to work on one for 4.2.1? Or not cos the baseband is the same as 4.1?

If you update to 4.2.1 there's a baseband update. And you can downgrade it meaning it can be unlocked.
Does anyone know the baseband for ios4.2.1 because I'm going to upgrade my 3GS then downgrade it then unlock it.

Woah, there buddy. Basebands can not be downgraded for iPhone 3GS. Just to let you know. You can downgrade firmware if you have SHSH blobs on file but fuzzyband only works with old firmware and different devices i believe. But i know for a fact you cannot downgrade BASEBAND/Modem Firmware. Thats why us unlockers had to wait for PWNAGETOOL to be released so we could preserve our baseband and update to 4.1

My wife was using my iPod and she was hooked up to iTunes when it said to upgrade firmware to 4.2 so she did. What a msitake that was. My previously jailbroken phone is no longer so and when I try do downgrade to 4.1 it says firmware is incompatible. So I trie to restore my device to the factory settings and I get an unknown error message. My phone is 1 week old and I feel like I am F'ed. Can anyone help me get the phone back to 4.1 or at least get it working in 4.2 so I can wait for a proper jailbreak.
