Default Apple to Offer Live Video Stream of This Morning's Event

Don't have an invite to the Apple event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California this morning? No worries. Apple has you covered. The powers that be in Cupertino are making it possible for you to watch the Wednesday, September 1st event (yes, that's today) over a live video stream provided by Apple. The event is scheduled to begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

According to Apple via a media alert post on the company's official website, Apple will broadcast its event online using Apple’s industry-leading HTTP Live Streaming, which is based on open standards. Viewing requires either a Mac running Safari on Mac OS X version 10.6 Snow Leopard, an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or higher, or an iPad. The live broadcast will be available exclusively at Apple.

Naturally, many will be speculating ahead of today's event that this live streaming component is being used to foreshadow a new live streaming video service through iTunes or a refreshed Apple TV. For now, though, it isn't exactly common knowledge what Apple will roll out for certain this morning. But many industry analysts are safely banking on a new iPod touch with many of the iPhone 4 attributes - specifically, a forward-facing camera that will bestow upon the iPod the FaceTime video chat functionality. Also expected are the addition of both a rear camera and flash and the much talked about Retina Display of the 4th generation iPhone.

Whatever Apple has planned, we'll all have a front row seat this time around.

The link will only be active when the conference starts. Right now you can click it as much as you want and nothing will happen. Just wait patiently...
