They've been on OS.X for nearly ten years. Given that each new iteration of that OS is given only a single decimal increase, I would assume that OS.11, or whatever it's called, must be a radical departure from the current OS, otherwise it will indeed be 10.11 (fuzzy kitten), etc...

I'll use my iMac until I can't anymore without upgrading, then sell it and just buy a windows device to keep my freedoms that ios has slowly taken away.

Converging iOS with Mac OS would not only completely destroy the history behind the name, it'll alienate those who use Macs for purposes other than surfing the web and listening to music. In my opinion the farther Apple keeps these two away the better. In the computer world iOS is communist China and Mac OS is Canada.

I hope Mac OS X doesn't come to be known as "iOS", doesn't sound right at all. Macintosh OS X sounds soooo damn cool.

I really enjoy the idea of a touch enabled desktop. Can't wait to get all the "it's just a huge itouch" commentors though.

They made an agreement that they could use it for the iDevices. So hopefully they don't go all out and do like they did with Apple vs Apple. And say they will stay out of the music business as long as they can use the name because that worked out well.
