Also, I agree with pretty much everything Jobs wrote. People who still want flash for some reason are delusional. I hineslty can't wait for droid to get flash (god knows when) just so people see how bad it is.
I think the point many are trying to make here is who the f--- is Apple to tell me what I can and can't or should and shouldn't use? I don't know the last time I used flash. I never play flash games and rarely watch flash video content. Still, let ME decide not to use it, don't tell me I can't...

People would just buy Photoshop for Windows then, it'd probably hurt Apple's Mac sales by a tiny bit or not at all. I wouldn't know as I'm pretty new to Mac.

Also most of the HTML5 sites don't even work on the iPhone. Flash will not die. HTML5 doesn't suck but Flash won't die. Apple can keep dreaming, I think Android OS may even surpass iPhone OS in the future.

hahahahh like iphone users didn't have to wait for mms, tethering, horizontal sms... Ect. Real basic stuff... I am sure if you did a side by side comparison on your users having to hold their breath... We would all be idead

Well Safari on my MBP ends up crashing if you try to play Flash or Shockwave games. Norton also crashes it when scanning sometimes. I can see why people say Mac's can't game because they clearly can't play new games for now. Until the future, Windows 7 Bootcamp for MW2 for me.

Contrary to popular belief flash would hardly dent the battery life and the only reason Apple dislikes flash is because it runs like **** on apple platforms but guess what its not Adobes fault its because Apple refuses to release their code to adobe to help make flash better. The fact is Adobe owns this aspect of the Internet and Adobe is a pretty big company you really think they will allow themselves to lose this control over the Internet? (they aren't dumb like apple people)

Adobe will end up controlling HTML5 if they saw any reason for it and because of the way Apple treats Adobe (and every other company on earth) like scum you can be sure that Adobe will use everything in their power to screw over Apple in the future.

So maybe flash will die and maybe it won't. Maybe HTML5 is the future. Fine works for me I don't really care which is the future or the past.

However last I checked we are in the present, the now, and the now is flash. So wouldn't it make sense to allow flash and support HTML5 for the future?

Telling me I have the "internet in my pocket" I expect to see the internet exactly the way I see it on my 23" monitor, just on a smaller screen.

What do we expect from Steve, He is the guy that said MMS was outdated and email was the way to go, but emailing a picture resulted in resizing it to mms size/quality...
    If I can't mod it...I don't want it.

would never happen according to steve apple customers purchase 50 percent of adobes products if this is true then adobe would be done if they stopped supporting mac. what it comes down to is adobe is pretty done and wont be coming to iphone unless a dev decides to give it to us. I think most websites will switch over to html5 to get the iphone crowd

    Correct.

Adobe can go Windows only but they will only hurt their sales. Apple would probably just end up creating their own suite if that happens.

Yeah, you'd hate for people to be happy and content about something on their device.

Adult swim just played a commercial making fun of steve. They made it look like a key note presentation, and featured an actor that fit the bill perfectly.

For those not familiar, Adultswim has a great website featuring full length shows completely built in flash.

I am sick and tired of Apple telling me what I can and can't do with my iphone. Almost every website I want to go to has flash. My own website would have flash if I could get to it from my iphone or future ipad. I have the Adobe CS4 Master Collection and I love it!! If apple reads this, I had planned on getting an iPad 3g when it goes on sale tomorrow, as well as the rumored Mac Pro with the i7-980x six core processor if it ever came to be, but the thought of no flash on the iPad, and possibly no future Adobe creative suite on the Mac, I have decided not to purchase either. My production company will have new computers for HD rendering by December, and the ball is in Apple's court whether we get Mac Pros and iPads, or go with a PC solution. Once again another bad move by Apple.
Oh give me a break!!! You honestly make decisions on future purchases, regarding web content, which is now changing, based solely on a browser plugin??? Really!!

My business wouldn't be worth a crumpet if I made such stupid and emotive decisions, and I do work in an industry that works directly with marketing and web design/content and none of the devs here believe flash is as great as all the pimply faced, adobe groupies that troll here believe it is. Perhaps you'd be happy living in the past along with flash too. The IT and web world changes every year and more so now than ever at an exponential rate. If any of my clients believed for one second that marketing to millions of mobile devices world wide, that only contained flash was a good move, then they would be as broke as this argument. I honestly can't believe the closed minds that scamper on here and fly the flag for a lousy, unsecured, buggy browser plugin, while the real world, the one that chooses what content we see, is moving forward, and away, from flash based web content, and we all here are cheering that this is finally happening. In the words of a real web dev, "flash is standing at the starting line while all the rest are running down the tape". He's right. I can only tell what market forces want, and they want to reach every single mobile device possible. Not many of those run flash right now, so we're moving on, thank you.

I think HTML5 is the future, but Steve is trying to get there tomorrow. Flash is always gonna be around, it really doesnt bother me that my iPhone doesnt support it. Gotta take the good with the bad.

In the meantime, I'm going to go against the mindset of people in this thread post a quote and source with my silly assumptions.
About six months ago, a friend who was working closely along side adobe’s flash application development team told me that they received a prototype of Flash for iPhone. The prototype allowed the iPhone to have less than half an hour of battery life using flash. They then sent the prototype to apple and suggested incorporating this prototype iPhone flash into the iPhone OS in the next update.

Apparently apple sent this letter back thanking them for being interested in developing a working version of flash for the iphone but because the prototype is so processor intensive, and awful for battery life, they would not include it with their OS because it is just not good enough. They suggested using the gpu instead of the processor to render flash. Then they suggested building a seperate app for flash and web browsing because there was no way apple could endorse flash integration on the iphone in its current state.

Adobe apparently didn’t want to release the app under their name either and it never showed up in the app store.

A long story in short: Adobe sucks at programming, then apple told them they sucked at programming. If they want to release that **** under the name adobe so be it, but it sure isn’t going to be endorsed by Apple.

That was the last they saw of that prototype.
