Although I am sure it will be useful to others....maybe I will have to personally check one out...but at this point...I'll pass.
Look back and time you'll see that you sound exactly like the majority of people when the iPod, iPhone, and every other new Apple product was announced. And all of those have gone and become the top sellers of their market with nothing else coming close.

This iPad just took on two markets at once BEFORE the markets had a chance to grow. First, the e-book market. This is hands down the best e-book reader. The screen is gorgeous, excellent battery life. I mean, compare it to the latest Kindle or Sony reader? Those look like absolute CRAP now. Second, they're taking Google and their WebOS approach to laptop/netbooks. What you have here is a full mobile OS designed to work and be used by touch-screen on a tablet. iPod, Photo, Calendar integration over the web.

If you don't get how amazing this iPad is from what little we've seen, then you don't "get" it just like people didn't "get" the iPod or the iPhone.

Also, Steve specifically started the iPad introduction by placing it in the middle of smartphones and laptop, so expect a $400-500 starting cost for the 16GB model.

Apple is going to make a KILLING with this.

You know all those sci-fi movies from the last 2 decades that show those scientist dudes with ******** touch-screen tablets? This is it.

I'm a helpful jerk, fear me.

You are so delusional. iPhone was revolutionnary. evryone went crazy when apple announced it cuz it was like nothing we've seen before. the ipad is nothing to get excited about except for blinded apple fanboys. I like my iPhone very much and bought all the versions of it. The ipad is just a giant iphone.

the ipad is as useless as the macbook air.

No seriously, go back and check when the iPhone was announced. The only people that went ga-ga for it were the Mac fans. The majority of people / news went "A touch-screen phone? Who's going to want THAT?"

No, I "get" the iPhone and iTouch. I just don't need one on steroids. That's all this is. Your opinion is obviously biased towards Apple products, and that's fine, but don't tell the rest of us that we don't "get" it because we disagree with fanboy fanaticism. We think you're nuts if you see this as anything but a giant iPhone.

Um, the Scientists in the movies didn't use giant iPhones. :/

I do get it, I hear your input, but as I stated, at this point there is no value add for me.
I did not say I would not check it out...as to its being revolutionary technologically, maybe some uses in hospitals for patient records, history, analysis....etc...yea, there are plenty of other uses...but not for me, not right now until I am able to evaluate it on a personal level.

Lmao you are so funny. You guys probably have a lot of money to spend on this useless pos. Fanboys are really weird people. When the iPhone was announced I wanted one immediately and I'm not an apple fanboy, its the only apple product I bought.

However with the iPad, I see no use at all with it. I can do 99% of what it does with my iPhone, a device I can carry around in my pocket. You nerds will carry that tablet with you all the time? Lmao.

That's because there was nothing like it ever created, it was revolutionary. So no one really knew how it was going to work. But Know that everyone know the iPhone OS, and how everything works, the iPad was a big let down.

When the iPhone was released there was nothing like it.
When the iPad was released, there are already many products like it.

That being said, its a Product from apple, of course im going to preorder it!! ahah but anyways...are the specs on this site legit? http://ipaddemo.com/

For the exception of the iPhone/iPod, I hate Apple products in general, especially their computer line-up. Too expensive. But if I'm right about the price on this one, they're really going to be taking on the netbook/ebook/laptop market at the same time with the same product.

My thoughts exactly... I guess I'll have to actually check it out to make a final call on it.

By the way, the only benefit I see to this is that it gives new ideas to other companies. It's probably the first step to what kind of things you see in science fiction. Paper thin transparent touch screens, which wont happen before 100 years. And will be only useful to scientists that go on other planets like in avatar.

    So I don't give a c*** really.

I missed the start - including the price - at $400 - 500 entry it does seem good.
But have they mentioned UMTS connectivity at all? I like 802.11n but only at home, out and about I need UMTS!

Well that part I agree 100% of with you. It'll will have advantages to current netbooks, although that's all preference when a physical keyboard is brought-up. As far as the device itself, as an over-all release, well, I'm not that impressed. Touch screens are great, but if this had a micro-thin slide-out keyboard it would be badass (IMO) lol.
