Mac Mini Wait Times Increase: New Model Coming?

image via DVHardware
The online Apple Store for Resellers has increased wait times for two Mac mini models, and many resellers' stock of the low-end mini is completely depleted. Meanwhile, Apple has informed its direct sales channel that the low end model has been discontinued. This is consistent with increasing rumors of upgrades to the product line in coming weeks.
According to a report in AppleInsider, the Apple Store for Resellers shows the 2 GHz Core 2 Duo Mac mini with 120GB hard drive as well as the 320GB model available after two to three weeks, rather than the usual 1-3 business day turnaround. Apple's announcement that orders by its sales partners for several desktop Mac models would not be honored came along with the news that the low-end Mac mini was no longer shipping. Online stores like Amazon and MacMall now report no stock on that model.
The rumor mill has long been abuzz with reports that Apple has a new iMac line ready to ship, as well as new polycarbonate MacBooks. This latest news adds fuel to the fire of rumors that hardware upgrades are coming to Apple's low-cost desktop mini.

The current model wont play NFS Shift. If you can get it to play it wont do it very well. I think the minimum requirements are for 256 video ram and the Mac Mini just wont be doing that. Hopefully Apple beefs up the Mini. The extra USB ports were a plus but I want a quad core. Then my theater set up will be complete.
