New iMacs, MacBooks coming?

Eric Savitz, at the Tech Trader Daily blog at Barron's Online, reports that Wedge Partners, an "independent equity analysis firm with a focus on the technology and media industries," is claiming that Apple is weeks away from an announcement of redesigned iMacs and minor changes to the Mac Book line.

According to Barron's, Wedge Partners

... assert in a note today that the company will release both new iMacs and new MacBooks “in the next several weeks.”

Wedge sees a redesigned iMac with a “thinner, organic design, likely with smoothed or rounded edges. The MacBook redesign “is likely to be limited,” Wedge asserts.

Price cuts are also expected ahead of the Windows 7 release and busy holiday season. While the rumor mill churns wildly, especially late in the year and has been dead wrong more often than right, a report from a financial observer should carry a little more weight than the standard fanboi fantasy. These people get paid - a lot - to get it right.

AppleInsider notes the Barron's report and reviews last month's vague but interesting rumors about new audio/video authoring capabilities on the iMac and a feature that has supposedly "long been on the wish-lists of many Mac users."

I'll be accepting guesses on just what that might be in comments. What's been long on your list?

On another note, I believe they still won't be adding any Blu-ray capabilities but maybe some HD out or something, it's not already present right?

My guess would be that they are changing the MacBook and not the MBPs....it has been speculated before that the MacBook will get a redesign soon.

Same here. Was planning on buying it this week but now I think I'll wait a few weeks to see what happens with this (if anything). My current MacBook White is only 6 months old anyway so no hurry I guess

I see a skinnier iMac, possibly with a 30" display? I also don't think there will be any changes to the MBP line. Possibly a small drop in prices of the MB, but no changes for MBP

Only thing I can think of is that Blu-ray is coming to the iMac.

I wish it was coming to the Macbook Pro.

they'll drop either the 2.53 or 2.26 MBP not both but one or the other

it doesn't matter. Apple will always update every 6 months or so (either the iMac or their MacBooks). buy when ever you feel like it and be happy with your purchase.
i bought my iMac 2 weeks before they renewed the line (6 months ago) and i could care less. my iMac is still going strong.

i doubt the mbp's see any change until Q2 of next year. i bet they drop the price of the mb though. and i couldn't give two shits about the imac, i bet they're going to bring back the multicolored imacs and you can get whatever color you want, maybe orange, red, blue, or green. yeah that's what they're gonna do for the imac and the mb's. i think the mbp's would be left alone, they're already allowing rebates on them. how much more can they drop the price?

I'd love to see Blu-Ray but doubting it'll be there...maybe an OLED screen, help with the thinness and the going green aspect that Apple is so proud of.

That wouldn't make any sense for them to drop the 2.53 and not the 2.26. If they drop the price, then they would do it on both.

I have been thinking of getting a new MBP soon... Lets see what they do in these next few weeks

Because there's a 30 inch Mac display? It would make more sense to me if the iMacs and the displays had the same screen sizes.

Oh question for the ppl with iMacs, do they also act as an extra display? Like do they have an HDMI input or something?
