Steve Jobs Focused on Apple Tablet

Steve Jobs has been focusing nearly all his energy on bringing the Apple tablet to market since his return to Apple after a liver transplant reports the Wall Street Journal.

Those working on the project are under intense scrutiny from Mr. Jobs, particularly with regard to the product's advertising and marketing strategy.

Mr. Jobs's focus on the tablet has been jarring for some Apple employees, who had grown accustomed to a level of freedom over strategy and products while the CEO was on leave, said a person familiar with the matter. "People have had to readjust" to Mr. Jobs being back

Anonymous sources claim that Jobs has killed off the tablet twice in recent years due to poor battery life and lack of internal memory capacity. Apparently the tablet has advanced past these issues and Jobs is pushing it forward to a launch expected sometime in Q1 of 2010.

Everything above is in question however as Jobs responded to the WSJ saying much of what was reported was "incorrect."

Recent reports concerning the Apple tablet claim that it will be able to run the nearly 70,000 applications available in the App Store, have 3g internet via an AT&T or Verizon connection, cost $500-700, and all be controled via 7-10" screen.

edit: if it can in fact run app store applications that in no way means it wont be running closer to a full version of mac os x than the iphone

All these reports point to a 2010 release which means the Sept. 9th event is too soon to announce it's release. Sad times.

Why is everyone thinking that it's a large iPhone? Why can't it be a flat screen notebook which also runs iPhone apps in an emulator type window?

i'll pass. the overlap between my phone and laptop are glaring enough. for myself, i see no reason to wedge another *compromise* devise in between the two.
