Woz and the Modbook Pro - 15.4" Mac Tablet by Axiotron
<a href="http://poeticfolly.com/macworld/mbp4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://modmyi.com/images/mw09/modbookp1.png"></a>
Axiotron announced today their new tablet model - the Modbook Pro, which works with pen AND touch. At 15.4", its "constructed from a unibody Apple Macbook Pro base system," and looks sexy in black.
Specs include up to a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a 15.4" WXGA display, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics card, and the thing is actually thinner than the MacBook Pro base system - at only 0.93".

They include Axiotron Quickscript handwriting recognition for writing and notetaking, and a new Synergy Touch technology they've developed which adds full touch support simultaneous to pen usage. Its pre-loaded with OS X of course, but there's also even an option to have a pre-installed partition with Windows Vista Business Edition.

Steve Wozniak, Apple co-founder and anti-closed-iPhone spokesman happens to be on Axiotron's board of advisors, and was here at Macworld today doing a presentation on the Modbook Pro.

At a whopping $4,999, this tablet is not for the light of wallet (you can actually send them your own MacBook Pro, and they will make a Modbook Pro out of it for $3049). The device comes with a 1 year limited hardware warranty.

Psystar is the company currently involved in a lawsuit with Apple, not Axiotron.
Doesn't matter if Apple likes it or not. In this case, the ModBook is APPLE hardware modified with a touchscreen and in the case of the Pro model, a new bottom case.
Psystar on the other hand is using NON Apple hardware as the basis for their machines and breaking the EULA by loading OS X on them.
While this unit certainly doesn't have $5k in parts, Axiotron has hardware and software R&D costs to compensate for, as well as higher part costs due to the limited number of units they make.
Not to say it's worth it necessarily, I'm just saying...

I once prayed to God for an iPhone, but quickly found out He didn't work that way...so I stole an iPhone and prayed for His forgiveness.

Don't modbooks have really poor build quality? Just wondering.

twitter.com/dale1vMicrosoft owns the internet through Hotmail. The .HTML is short for Hotmail, so all .HTML files are MS files.

You lost all credibility when you called the black machine "sexy". Sleek, yes. Sexy? Not so much...
But calling a machine sexy is wrong. Unless it gets you hard in the nether region, then machines should never be referred to as sexy.
The only machine that is sexy are those fembot sex machines. Then yes, some machines are "sexy" but that's it!You don't have to lie to kick it.

Get a Samsung Q1U and hack OS X onto it. It's been done and it'll save you what, $3800? Instructions are probably listed under "no-brainer" in hte dictionary.
