Well now we have several confirmed updates that 10.5.6 breaks DFU mode. One from this site, one from iSpazio, and another from ipodtouchfans. If you want to continue to jailbreak your iphone do not update to this new version until we hear from the Dev Team.

Have NO FEAR! a USB HUB is all that is needed to go into DFU mode!

Make sure you buy a usb hub that has an external power supply, meaning a plug for the wall that connects to the hub and powers it.
The lil four port hub that just plugs right into usb will not work.
It does not have enough power to charge and get s stuck in charge on/off scenario
mac and xp will say, iphone cannot be used with hub.

That is kinda weird it does that. If they really wanted to disable DFU there would be a better way. Personally I still have 10.4 on my trusty ole Powerbook G4. However still a little puzzling why Apple would go about it that way. LOL more so since some of the workarounds are easy to do.

according to the Dev team blog this was probably not an intentional efforet by apple to thwart jailbreaking but a kernel issue.
