its sad to see mac attack windows this harshly
Its true vista has been having problems when it came out, but the thing is that if your switching to vista, stick to a 64 bit os because sticking to that will avoid alot of problems with viruses and ect. and since most programs are written for both, it would matter even choosing a 32 bit
Microsoft also realeased vista sp1 and that fixed a drastic amount of problems, now i never seen a bsod or anything, right now im having huge amounts of fun playing crysis warhead and other games...
Btw i also had to tweak vista with the startup items and vistas services, (i disabled the ones i dont need) and everything is running fast and smooth

apple should answer this... how many people would buy macs, let alone know about them ,if it wasn't for advertising? heck Microsoft commercials used to be positive about moving society forward, helping in development etc. (about 2 years back)
and then apple comes along and all they do is bash them... now Microsoft made some commercials to defend itself and oh no their so terrible? plz... this is by far the lamest thing ive seen anyone do, quite frankly this is as lame as people sayn obama is a terrorist ... just plain idiotic, hypocritical and down right pathetic

If both Microsoft and Apple had a 50/50 split of the market would we see these kinds of "attacks"? No, don't think so. The fact is that Microsoft has ~85% of the market (and ~95% of the business market) because they essentially shut down all of their competitors (anybody remember OS/2 ??) Microsoft has locked-up the OS market and then became complacent just like IBM did in the 70's.
When you have 7-8% of the market share with what you consider a superior product, how do you gain market share? When there is only one other player, (ignore Linux for the time being) the player is dominant, you attack negatively.
I'm surpised that Microsoft hasn't gone after the iPod which conversely holds 80% of the market. Would be kind of funny... "Hi, I'm a Zune and this is iPod..."Last edited by imode; 10-21-2008 at 12:01 AM.

@ Sumichu
they're not talking about how microsoft build computers.
they're talking about how microsoft asks people to pay for a new operating system with a ton of problems and then fix it sometime later
whereas apple releases a new version of OSX only when it is ready, and not a complete embarrassment.
for the amount of money/market share microsoft has, i would expect them to at least be able to release an operating system without major flaws. hell, with that kind of money they should have the best operating system on the planet!

Never had mobile safari crash on me but maybe I'm lucky? EVERY OS I have ever used over the last 30 years has had issues. That is the nature of software. Microsoft is 35 years old, bloated and complacent. They can't innovate anymore because they don't have to. They are essentially a monopoly and have been for the last 15 years .
Anyway, I use Mac at home and XP at work. I have no problems with XP service pack 3, haven't had to reboot since Friday, it's been at least 2 weeks since my last BSOD and since I reinstalled Windows a month ago it's been quite stable. So over all a positive experience.
Telstra (formally Telecom Australia) had until the early 90's a total monopoly on phone service. The phones had to be leased and fees were expensive, customer service was crap, had to wait months to get a phone line and modems were illegal to own!!! One could argue Telstra was the reason why broadband in Australia was too slow to take off and to this day is crap. They dominated (actually owned) the market and held the country hostage. Now that there are plenty of competitors they've had to do something strange... innovate.
This is the whole point of the Mac vs PC commercials. Maybe Microsoft should spend their 300mil on an OS that will blow away Mac OS X. Maybe even fix the Zune...

I bought Vista Ultimate the day it came out, I didnt have any problems with it then, and dont have any problems with it now. The arrogance of Apple is exactly why I will never own a Mac... not to mention all the issues I have with my iPhone!! My iPhone apps and Safari crash more in 1 day than my Vista PC does in a year. But dont get me wrong, I LOVE my iPhone!!! So I wont even bring up my recent experience with ''AppleCare" when my 3 month old 3G suddenly went schitzo for no reason, and I had to have it replaced!!
In these stupid commercials, they should mention AFTER the $300M thing about the fact that any Mac system costs 3 times as much as any comparable Windows PC!! AND you'll have to blow another grand or 2 to replace all your firewire based toys!!
PS. I thought this was modmyi?? when did it become modmymac?? The entire home page is plastered with a seemingly endless scroll of Mac crap... nothing about iPhones or even the Touch!!

It is funny how microsoft didnt do anything in the mp3 sideof the industry. I think microsoft can easily overcome with their brand new zune player. Here check it out
Zune vs Ipod Comparison - NEW (ignore the virus part, i think that part is bull)
I think zune made a great comback here.

~its just good business, its all about marketing~between two very powerful companies with moneys in mind~~as we are customers~no point fighting over it, buy whatever u like, and use it~enjoy it, thats all~~leave the competition to steven and gate, they fight harder is better, so they will come out with more new stuff and toys for us to kill our wallet for~

Apple can get a bit ridiculous at times.
I mean exposing other companies? Sure they have been producing great products and sales have been awesome but I mean come on be a bit humble.Get streetwear for cheap here.

To whom it may concern
It's marketing, nothing else. To be honest, if you're lame enough to look so deeply into the ads, get offended by them, and then choose to view Microsoft or Apple as a personality before you view them as a business, you sound like an idiot. Well to me, anyway. If you paid for it and you enjoy it, don't bother taking on the opinions (also known as self-made facts) of others.

Are you serious? how old are?
So because someone is doing better and you think it is unfair you can spew hate and negativity? WRONG. you stick with it and you do good and you push your product out there the right way.
Numerous companies have made it doing it that way and they are better because of it.
Here are some tips for Apple, don't make your products cost a crazy amount, stop acting so smug and let Steve jobs go because his tumor is obviously messing him up.
haha wow so many people do not understand business on these forums.
You are dead wrong. The point of marketing is to make people relate and feel emotions towards the advertisement or whatever it may be.
Apple has become so popular again, due to its marketing and people having emotions towards it. Marketing is everything.
You know what i find odd, please tell me why they are obviously attacking Microsoft, when they arent even a hardware company.
Sure their software is on most computers, but a lot of times their software needs good parts to run good, just like Apple.Last edited by drifterlu; 10-21-2008 at 07:22 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Original idea:
This is childish on Apple's part.
Unfortunately Apple users will love it and eat up every word whilst sipping a soya decaf latte in Starbucks (couldn't resist) and Windows users will hate it.
Its just a shame Microsoft had to respond with their version of the advert to cossey the mongrels in this world who cant make a decision for themselves.Last edited by imode; 10-21-2008 at 08:52 AM.

First of all...this is writer is not a chick....
Stop cutting pictures of you and a guy.
While not leave him in the picture.
Sex does not sell iphones.
What happened to this site???
Ever since the revelation of the Apple law suit...this info on this site has declined.
Not good.

Yea pretty much lost interest in this site since the influx of non-iPhone crap. If I wanted to read about all things apple, I'd read TUAW. If I wanted to read a political rant... well, you get the picture.
If there is an iPhone-only version of this site, please let me know.

Apple:
Stick to what makes you good, not why the competition sucks.
