That "2 foot of silver" are the speakers that are current on both the 15" and 17" models. Obviously the photo is a fake but I think your iPhone answers the question as far as Apple being able to make great looking products.

Also at @ Marsman, looking on the side of my MBP, I'd say those ports would be for the wireless card. However it looks like they removed the magsafe port, usb port, and no headphone jack.

Here Here! I really hope this is the new MBP. I can see SO many great uses for an iphone style touchpad. Just imagine context-based or application specific touch gestures and hot zones. Those 'smudges' are quite obviously the reflection of the keyboard in the gloss! Those ports looks like USB and magsafe ports with some kind of new 'flip up' thing to stop dirt getting in the ports, ive seen a lot of new laptops with them.


Real or not; I think it looks pretty good. And certainly fits in with the new style Apple has applied to recent products.
Oh and whoever talked about the '1950's two-tone'.. look at the iMac?!

1. even if apple puts 3 usb ports on the new mbp they wouldn't put them all on the same side.
2. while there is the magnetic latch there is no indention to make it easier to lift up the screen.
3. the touchpad is way to small for apple
4. the bottom casing is chrome looking while the top is matte
5. unless it is a 20" mbp the superdrive is too small to use a normal cd
6. if apple is trying to be greener i do not think that they would go back to plastic from aluminum?
7. notice in all 4 orientations of the "mbp" they never show you the right. side, my guess is less time in photoshop.
8. the bottom and the top would scratch worse than the original ipod.
9. why didn't they give us the ad displayed on the screen?
my verdict is...it's FAKE
