I'm new to the apple community, I need some advice concerning rejailbreaking my iPod 4
I recently did a semi tethered jailbreak on my daughter's iPod 4, that she will be getting for Christmas, using iOS 6.0.1. (Well, really 6.0) But now I'm wanting to perform an untethered jailbreak so when she turns it on on Christmas Day I won't have to take it and reboot it through Redsn0w or quickly wrap it up right before she gets up. Would it be a good decision to rejailbreak it using 5.1.1. And if so, how do I backup all my Cydia apps?

You will have to have the 5.1.1 shsh blobs to downgrade ya firmware for that. There isn't an untethered jailbreak for 6.0.1

That's my question, without an untethered 6.0.1, would it be a good decision to jailbreak using 5.1.1? Please, don't think horribly of me, but I'm used to my modded Android, the iPod is the big gift my daughter wanted so I wanted to make it better. The concepts are very similar with rooting and etc., but I guess I'm a little more anxious about screwing up the Apple. lol
I am going to apologize in advanced for my ignorance. lolLast edited by Skullie213; 11-20-2012 at 07:54 AM.

Kinda hard to screw them up now. Ya can just about git it out of any state it goes into. Just make sure ya have the blobs for that firmware and you can go down to 5.1.1 I would rather a untethered jailbreak for sure than a tethered jailbreak just my opinion.

So should I just use Redsn0w as I did, but with the 5.1.1 ispw? This iPod just worries me because with Android, I can see the changes take place on the screen and this.. is just confusing for me some. lol But I am so curious to see what I can do with it though.

Thanks 2k1, I'm on it in just a little bit, as soon as I know 100% that my daughter is asleep.

She has made a point to not let me have 2 minutes to myself since last night, I'm attempting it all now. I'll be back hopefully in a few minutes to let you know. Thanks

Can I not downgrade if the device has never had the older software on it? When it was purchased it had 6.0 firmware, and the day I turned it on, it upgraded to 6.0.1. Can I not get the shsh blobs I need to downgrade to 5.1.1?? I'm hoping I can, I am so disappointed right now.

I guess I can live with this semi untethered with 6.0.1 firmware til they come up with an untethered jailbreak. But now my issue is it doesn't want to go into dfu mode, it keeps going into pwned dfu mode. So now I can't even tether reboot.

Don't think there is a semi untethered for that just tethered.

I have the semi-tethered jailbreak on my iOS 6.0.1 on iPhone 4. I knw it hasn't been advertised by any of the dev, but it works. The bigboss repo for the semi-tethered on iOS 5.1.1.
I wanted to test it out so I went the whole day semi-tethered. I didn't have any problems with it restarting by its self or going into self mode or nothing.
But if you knw about semi-tethered than u knw, jailbroken apps and tweaks will not work until you boot tethered. So this is why I have no problem with being on iOS 6.0.1 tethered jailbreak.Last edited by Southern128; 11-22-2012 at 05:32 PM.

Can't you use the restore feature on redsnow? And restore to 5.1.1.
