If it is on 3.1.2 to 4.0.1 yes. If it isn't on those firmwares then no.

You need a computer as well to downgrade the firmware.

You would jb it with redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 from the deb team's blog if you want the new Cydia. You may also use limera1n but that has the old Cydia.

You'll also need SHSHs if you want to downgrade, which you'd probably have to check for with TinyUmbrella. But you probably don't have SHSHs if you don't know what they are.

...if by mod you mean jailbreak, no currently there are no jailbreaks via the device itself on firmwares 4.0.2 and above.

Doesn't matter how many times you ask, the answer is still the same.

the best way to jailbreak ipod 4th gen running 4.1 is to use the program limera1n u can download it from the link www.limera1n.com
its the easiest and fastest way but it DOES require a cpu
