no antvirus

i was wondering what it is about macs that make them not need any antivirus software? i read in my local newspaper about that conficker worm, and they said that it didnt affect macs, only pcs. i dont understand why that is?

conficker exploited a Server Service on the windows platform.

Microsoft has the market by a large margin, people just dont screw with OSX much because its not nearly as used.

oh. i thot that there was actually something that had to do with the os itself. i've heard of viruses for osx but not many. thanks by the way.
