DVD player help

so i just bought an imac a few months ago, and i buy a dvd and i put it in, and the dvd player program keeps lagging and skipping, saying skipping over damaged area, but the disc isnt damaged, so is it my dvd player or the dvd? i really dont want to ******* return either of them, so what do i do?

Try another DVD? I don't think anyone here can really tell, you can do some basic troubleshooting yourself
