Is there any other way to find out if your unlocked besides the sim?

You should be able to check the unlock status of it here: Check IMEI - IMEI.info

Use this link to tell you what basebands are unlockable. If you're baseband is on there, you can unlock it. You could also request an unlock from AT&T (Even if you're not an AT&T customer)

My apology to you and others i am new to all of this , not trying to annoy you or anyone . Not sure why it posted twice , I removed it and copied and pasted so you or any one can read it and tell me what it means cause as i said i know nothing about all this and have been scammed a few times and don't want to be scammed again.

How can you tell if it's unlocked at that site Simon? Or, do you have to pay to get all your info?

After checking the initial info you click on check warranty button. That will show the lock status of the phone (normally). It's free to do but you have to sign up for an account and "like" them on facebook or google+. I have used it like 10 times.

Well I'll be a son of a gun. They added a paypal payment to it. I swear that wasn't there last week. Ooh, that's shady. I have checked like 10 IMEI's the past month all for free.

Another way to try to find out for free is a little program called itools: Download iTools 2011 Beta 1119 Free - An efficient and easy-controlled sync and management software for your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch. - Softpedia

I think it is windows only though. It's kinda like ifunbox or diskaid but can /sometimes/ tell you the carrier (or at least country) the phone is locked to.

Now they want payment for each one you check. I paid and thought that may allow me to use it as a cool tool, oh well.
    Thanks my friend.

Ya, that's pretty sneaky of them to all of a sudden add that PayPal thing. It is still one of the cheaper IMEI carrier checks out there though. Thanks for pointing out they are charging now.

I agree, I have had friends ask me a lot of times about buying a used iPhone, and if there is a way to verify that it is indeed factory unlocked, and want to be able to check before they buy on eBay or Craigslist. Worth the $1.98 to be sure.
