Umm maybe I read this wrong but in the photos app there a delete button or you could hit the button in the top right corner and select multiple pictures to delete. Hope this helped.~ Bobby Pair

you're right but that doesn't work for photos in the photos library.

Yes the ones you put on your phone that were synced from your comp as a separate folder in your phone can't be deleted without syncing them out with iTunes. I haven't bothered to find a workaround for this as I just go on my comp and do it.
It's annoying really.
Wonder what that wireless sync thing works. I have no idea what that is

You can delete mutiple photos off camera roll. Simply open the album "Camera Roll" (or which ever album contains the photos you wish to delete) and hit the edit button in the upper right hand corner. Touch the photos you want to get rid of and a red check will appear on them, then hit the delete button to delete photos from iPhone.
