08-29-2012, 12:02 PM #1Preventing firmware updates on a jailbroken device
I know this is a really noob question, and I sincerely apologize, but I am new to iPhone and I don't know what settings I need to put on to prevent automatic firmware updates so that I don't lose my jailbreak. What are the settings I need to change in iTunes and/or my iPhone 4S, if any?
Thank you so much for helping a noob out and best to sticky the answer so other noobs like me will know. Also, any information on updating firmware while preserving baseband would be great too! Thank you again!

In iTunes they got a box you can uncheck when iTunes starts up it won't ask to update. But as long as you don't hit apply or anything you will be fine.

The OTA updates on the iPhone itself can be ignored (Settings > General > Software Update). Never update that way!Until the next time… And if I help you out, give me a "Thanks!" Thanks!

You can also install NO UPDATE through Cydia that disables OTA updating completely. No accidental OTA updating.
