Thread: Unlocking iPhone 4s 5.0.1

Hello, I have a Verizon iPhone 4s that is currently locked. It is brand new and hasn't even been activated. I bought it off of somebody who used it and reset it. It still has original sim. I found a way to bypass the activation screen to get to the home screen and tried using safari and the Internet worked, even with no wifi connection around. I don't understand. So does that mean his sim is still activated? I want to find a way to unlock the iPhone while it is still inactivated and use it with tmobile. What programs do i need to use?
Modem firmware (baseband) is 1.0.14
Carrier: Verizon 11.3

Baseband 1.0.14 can be unlocked. This can be done using the Gevey Ultra S. Here's the link to it:
EDIT: My mistake, bad link. Let me get a new one.

Is there another way I can unlock this? I just used absinthe and unlocked it. It now has cydia icon. So I took out the old Verizon sim and put in my cut tmobile sim in. It now says it needs to be activated, and sent me back to the set up screen. So it's now unlocked and still won't work. So have I accomplished anything? Or do I still have to use gevey? I also know a way to temporary bypass the setup screen if that's helpful.
Thanks for the quick response.
Also, can you buy gevey from any local stores or is it order only. . .

Using Absinthe jailbreaks the device, and does not unlock. You need the Gevey Ultra S SIM to unlock it for use with another carrier. There is no other way on the iPhone 4S. Unless you call Verizon and get it officially unlocked, however, to complete and activate the unlock you must actually travel overseas.
You can also try officialiphoneunlock.co.uk which does official IMEI unlocks as well. It is a bit costly, but if you have the extra money and want a permanent unlock then that's the way to go.

Also, some local cell shops may carry the Gevey Ultra S. Check your local cell shops. Be wary though, some of them may be selling fakes either knowingly or not. Although, fakes do work the same, just try to do research on which is real or not before purchasing. You don't want to be paying $40 for a fake one when you could get a fake for $10.

You'll have to buy the Gevey Ultra S CDMA/WCDMA & GSM Package at www.applenberry.com.
Runs anywhere from $39.99 to $49.99.
I have the same phone.iHaKiOs
