05-03-2012, 03:34 PM #1Unlock through Gevey or Jailbreak
Hi I'm quite new here. I come from Italy and so..sorry for my bad English.
I've an Iphone 4S by Sprint, it's of 16GB and is black.
Its FW is 5.1, it has a BB 2.0.10 and Carrier Sprint 12.0
I wanna know if is it possible to use it in Italy, because I'm worried that it is a CDMA iphone and so it can't be used in Italy.
I read online that the iphone 4S is a dual band iphone and so it supports both CDMA and GSM, can you confirm it to me?
I would know also if it's possible to unlock it through gevey sim ultra s or I have to wait for the Jailbreak of iOS 5.1?!
Thank you in advance,

Nope no way to unlock yet

Why? With the gevey sim ultra S?
I have to wait or is it impossible an unlock like that?
Is it true that the iphone 4S of Sprint is a dual band, so it will work both with CDMA and GSM?
Thank you for your reply.

Ok. Thank you. So it's true that the 4S is a dual band iphone? I ask to you because a community in italy said to me that the iphone that I have is unuseful in Italy and It won't work never!!!!

Yes it's a dual band phone.

Yep it's not unlockable yet. It's also a dual band phone. If you've ever had AT&T, you can contact them and see if you're eligible for a carrier unlock.I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

In italy someone told me that is impossible to use it on GSM if it is activated as a CDMA iPhone?
What can you say about that?

I think your friend is right. I could be wrong, but I'm about 99% sure you can't.I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

The problem is that your on 5.1 on a 4s which is not unlockable at this time. If you were on 5.0.1 then you'd be able to unlock it using gevey or r-sim III and use your italy simcard on gsm, but like i said, as of now 5.1 is not unlockable on the 4s so you're ginna have to wait my friend!!!

Thank you for your reply. If it's only a problem of waiting for me it's ok.
But in the previous post of xh4ack3rx I understood that I will never be able to unlock my iPhone because it has just been used as a CDMA iPhone!
What is the truth?
I have to wait or I have to throw away my iPhone?
Thank you in advance,

Ok figured it out, you can use it as a GSM phone since it is an iPhone 4S. You got lucky bro the iPhone 4 isn't dual band like that. So yes, you can use it on a GSM network.I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

05-08-2012, 03:20 PM #17
I read another article, but I can't find it. Here's the best I can get though: iPhone and iPad: Using cellular networks while in another countryI will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

You posted that link to let me know that is possible, yes? But It's not the way that I'll follow..
Because I'm waiting for an unlock or a new release of the gevey!

Yes to your question. By the way, if you're very eager to unlock, you can try calling AT&T, even though you've never been an AT&T customer. If you can get the right person on the line, they'll unlock it for you.I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

I didn't understand ... The iPhone is by Sprint. To unlock it I could try to call AT&T?
Is that correct?
