    Default Charging and sync problem
I have the verizon iphone 4s and running ios 5.0.1 jailbreak. My phone will only charge if I connect it to a power outlet, but if I connect it to a computer it's not recognized. I've tried 2 different computers and 2 good good cables. I have gone into the device manager on both computers and it's not showing up on either one being win xp and win 7.
I also went as far as restoring my computer to an earlier date and reinstalled itunes. I don't think it's the computer but the phone. Any help please I need to sync my phone.

Think if I set it in DFU mode like I'm gonna restore it'll recognize it ? If so I'll just wait till new jb is out. I did notice if I load itunes with phone plugged into computer and hold down the home button it'll start to sync but itunes crashes when it gets to step 7. Phone does show up in the left pane of itunes but also says I need to plug my phone in

I would suggest to restore your phone (backup first) then proceed to connect to iTunes. Sounds like you have a driver issue, not the phone.

If I understand correctly, you can now recover only 5.1, since 5.0.1 is not supported by Apple. This only applies to iPhone 4S. If you have a iPhone 4, then the presence of SHSH to 5.0.1, you can recover it.

Solution found for me in this post!
iPhone is not defined by the USB port on your computer
