Thread: iPhone 4 Won't respring
03-10-2012, 05:08 PM #1iPhone 4 Won't respring
iPhone 4 won't respring in Cydia or Winterboard and I'm on iOS 5.0.1 and the only way for me to make changes is for me to turn on and off my phone. Should I restore and rejailbreak on iOS 5.1? I don't mind being on a tether jailbreak at all!

Up to you. Really only way to fix it would be to restore I think.

Will it respiring if you try from SBSettings?Senior

upgrading to 5.1 right now would be just about the worst possible move you could make.
5.1 is almost certainly guaranteed to have more problems with SB and cydia and related stuff for the time being. Eventually things will get sorted out, but you'll have to wait. Since there's no untether you might even have to wait longer, since developers will be leery of moving to it.
Restore and rejailbreak on 5.0.1 may help though.
If you have SHSHs saved, or if you can use iFaith to preserve your blobs to make and sign a new custom firmware.

I reccomend you use Sn0wbreeze. It's quality jailbreaks that are almost flawless. What jailbreak did you use?

I used Redsn0w when it was the untether for iOS 5.0.1 and i jailbroke at like 2 in the morning.

In my opinion, Redsn0w is kind of a crappy jailbreak. Sn0wbreeze is the way to go. Redsn0w is kind of a 'New Jailbreaker' jailbreak. It's not as complicated as Sn0wbreeze or any of the others, But other jailbreaks are of better quality and can be customized more with a custom iPSW. Definetly use Sn0wbreeze...I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

Like someone else asked before, did you try a respring with SBSettings?
@H4CK3R, it's a difference of opinion. Sn0wbreeze is great, but that doesn't make Redsn0w crappy. All jailbreak tools have bugs and kinks, each fw version tends to have a particular jb tool that has less bugs/kinks than another. Newer redsn0w versions can also create custom firmware btw.
I personally would suggest Redsn0w, I've never had a problem with it, Sn0wbreeze on the other hand I have had issues with before. I tend to avoid it myself, but that's just me.

I know it's opinion here, But I had issues with Redsn0w, Particularly a SandBox issue that wouldn't allow me to play any of my games and would log me out of GameCenter constantly. I know it's opinion as well, We've all had our fair share of issues with jailbreaks before....I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

I've tried respiringing using SB settings also and I both like Sn0wbreeze and Redsn0w. I think that they are both good jailbreaks! I've never had an issue with Redsn0w but I've had a few issues with sn0wbreeze

Yep. Sometimes they can get a little screwy if you know what I'm saying here....I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

So what do you have installed recently in Cydia? A package may be causing conflict and not allowing you to respring. Do you have SHSHs saved for 5.0.1? If a restore is required, you can use those SHSHs to restore to 5.0.1 and avoid 5.1. I believe you can also use iFaith to save the 5.0.1 SHSHs if you don't have them already, then create a signed custom fw with those SHSHs, and restore to it.

To be honest bro, Ya really shouldn't bother with tethered jailbreaks. They can be a nightmare and the hassles with it just aren't worth it. I don't reccomend tethered jailbreaking, It's just really confusing and a big nightmare.I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

I don't have an issue with tethered jailbreaks at all. I rarely turn my phone off and when I'm done jailbreaking and going through the whole process I start to download all of the tweaks and other stuff that makes me reboot.

Same here. I rarely turn my iPod off, I keep it with me all the time. It can be a big hassle for people that turn their iPhone off all the time though...I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

Agree. I normaly take my Mac with me everywhere i go so I can use that if needed

I've also encountered these problems and the culprit i came up with is installed packages that weren't meant for my fw w/c is 5.0.1! Uninstalling those fixed the problem for me. So now i make sure anything i install is for 5.0.1!!! Hope this helps...
