Thread: Upgrade firmware
04-21-2011, 02:06 AM #1Upgrade o/s
I am on a jailbroken 3gs 3.1.2. 05:11:07. I need to upgrade to os 4.0 minimum as there are a few programs I need for work which require 4.0 os. Can this be done without losing the break? If so please can someone let me know how?

Once u upgrade u loose the jailbreak u currently have but if u upgrade to a jailbreakable firmware then there is nothing to worry about. 4.3.2 is the latest and it's jailbreakable...just make sure to watch your baseband if u require an unlock

4.0.2 is the maximum Apple stock version you can install and still use ultrasn0w to unlock. With a custom ipsw (pwnagetool or sn0wbreeze) can load anything .... IF ......
Unfortunately, you need SHSH blobs to load ANY but the latest iOS. Download TU and see what's has already been saved on your behalf.

Am I right in saying that Snowbreeze will let me choose to keep the baseband I have?

Thanks for the help guys :-) But now I'm more confused.
If I fully upgrade to 4.1.2 via iTunes I will be able to jailbreak but I may not be able to unlock the phone so I can use any sim. Honestly I don't get the baseband bit! The firmware and baseband seem to be linked (3.1.2/7D11) or (4.3.2/8H7). Once upgraded to 4.3.2 don't you automatically already have the 8H7 baseband? Also how do I back up all my apps (cydia & apps store) and restore them? Or is that manually? :-/. Sorry for all questions but I don't want to start this to have a days work reinstalling everything afterwards and losing all info saved inside the apps. Help please..
