Hello! I received my Verizon iPhone 4 on Monday, and I already jailbroke it yesterday using Greenpois0n RC5. Currently, I have the following installed on my iPhone 4 (shipped with iOS 4.2.5 but updated to iOS 4.2.6 before jailbraking): Cydia, WinterBoard, Infinifolders, iWipeCache, LockInfo, MobileTerminal (4.26), MyProfiles, OpenSSH, and SBSEttings.
I managed to get SSH & Mobile Terminal (4.26) installed and working. I initially couldn't get Mobile Terminal to stay open (flicker & close), so I did some research and ended up having to SSH into my iPhone with WinSCP and pasting MobileTerminal-426.deb into the following directory:
Note: I had to create the last 2 folders (directories) under Media; Cydia and AutoInstall were not there. Case sensitive.
I then rebooted my iPhone twice.
Now, Mobile Terminal opens. I have tried typing su root, root, and passwd after mobile$; however, nothing types when I try to type in the next command line.
After typing passwd, I get Changing password for mobile. Old password: but nothing types when I try to enter alpine. If I push return, I get Sorry and back to the mobile$ command line.
After typing su root, I get Password: but once again nothing types when I try to. When I push return, I get su: incorrect password and the original mobile$ command line.
Anyone have any idea what's going on with my Mobile Terminal not allowing me to type after the initial entry?
I've learned a lot over the past 2 days, but this one has me beat so far!

You aren't supposed to see any characters show up when you type. It's going when you type you just don't see it.
Edit: if you're getting incorrect password when you type default alpine, well your password isn't alpine anymore.
Then change the password.

Keyboard themes via winterboard don't work anymore unless you're on 3.0 or below.
You can theme keyboards with iAcces. There's a free trial then a $15 fee after to use iAcces.

Then it isn't compatible with the new verizon firmware. You'll probably need to wait for an update, don't know if they're working on one tho.

It doesn't matter where you get it from (but yes Cydia is the only place to get it) it isn't going to be compatible with your firmware version. The app hasn't been updated.

No, because you have a verizon iPhone. That's the firmware it starts with.

Changing the password for SSH. doesn't have much to do with the firmware version and downgrading. SSH is accessing your phone's root files so you may add themes, delete files, transfer media, etc.

I have ssh how do I apply themes that way?

Usually using Winterboard is good for beginners to theme.

The themes you're trying probably aren't compatible with your firmware. It doesn't matter if you SSH them in or download from Cydia, they won't work if they're not compatible.
