I can't restore my ipod touch. Please help T^T

I have an ipod touch 3g v4.3.1 and it's jailbroken
I want to restore it then upgrade it to v5.1.1. I downloaded 2 firmwares. 4.3.1 and 5.1.1
I can't restore my ipod touch because when I press shift and click restore, there a dialog box that says "the ipod could not be restore because the firmware file is not compatible.
But when I just click restore, it can't contact the ipod ssoftware update server and sometimes, there is a different dialog box that says "there was a problem downloading the software for the ipod. an unknown error occurred (-23)"
My OS is windows 7

Please help me T^T I don't have much knowledge about idevices .__.

4.2.1 is the highest ya phone can go up to that's why ya gitting them errors.

So… what am I gonna do now? I really want to upgrade my ipod to v5.1.1 D: I also want to get rid of the jailbreak ._.

A restore will git rid of the jailbreak but as far as upgrading like i said a 3G firmware can only go to 4.2.1

6.0.1 is the latest firmware for your device then. The file name should start iPod4,1.....
You can only go to 5.1.1 if you have 5.1.1 SHSH.

Now my ipod 4g on 4.2.1 i try to upgrade with
Snowbreeze custom but now is stock on recovery mode
Dont exit try to restore but errors from 1600 to 3xxx dont let restore. try with tinyumbrela, ireb but dont exit recovery mode. I can put on dfu mode but I can do more
