itouch 1g 2.2.1 upgrade to 3.1.3 or no?

Good afternoon everyone. I just got a itouch 1g for from a friend and I was wondering what is the best firmware version for it. Its currently at 2.2.1 and I was wondering if I should update it to 3.1.3 since thats the only firmware i found online. Im just worried that the itouch would lag. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should update it that's the highest firmware it goes to and there is a untethered jailbreak for ir
