iPod touch 4th gen: what is the best google VoIP app
I'm new to the iPod touch world, I use to have an iPhone that I jail broke long long ago... I know they have google voice app, but it doesn't make calls out from iPod touch...
Questions:
1. Doesn't Google Voice use VoIP? why wouldn't this work if i'm in a wifi environment?
2. What are these 3rd party Google Voice VoIP apps? isn't that why we have a stand alone google voice app???
The articles I'm reading are over 6 months old.. can someone help clarify?
I want to just have the ipod touch for all it's app/game features and then also use google voice when in wifi environment.
Google Voice is NOT a VoIP client. If you have Google Voice set up, go to the settings and turn on "Forward to Google Talk" (it's where your phone(s) are listed that are connected to GV). This allows you to make and receive phone calls from Google Voice in Gmail through your browser.
Now, go download Talkatone for your iPod. Set up your Google Voice account with it and it will let you make and receive phone calls over Wi-Fi with it.
Good Luck!
