Just bought iPod Touch 4G, what should I do before jailbreak?
I just bought an iPod Touch 4G in Canada, still unactivated (says to plug into iTunes when I turn it on). Are there any things I should do before jailbreaking it? Do I simply upgrade to latest 4.3.2 in iTunes, or should I use custom firmware? What is the purpose of using custom firmware for iPod if there is no need for unlock? Thanks.

What's the difference between custom firmware made by sn0wbreeze and PwnageTool? I heard PwnageTool is more stable, is that true?
So I would just use redsn0w to put the device into DFU mode, turn on TinyUmbrella TSS server, then shift+restore to custom firmware in iTunes?

Before or after jb'ing, it doesn't matter, but save your SHSH blobs, and soon!
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella

The best thing to do now is to use tinyumbrella to save your shsh. Then use sn0wbreeze or pwnage tools to make custom firmware (whichever fit you best) or you can enjoy redsn0w for a peaceful drip into the jailbreakers world. Except for a fact that you might stuck in a recovery loop like some of those guys out there.
If you need any help just p!m me on my y!m i'll answer as soon as I can!
Good luck.
BTW my ipt4 is on 4.1.2 :P

Only 4.2.1 can be jailbroken with GP later firmware can't this guy has just recently bought his ipt, who knows which firmware it holds, so the best is to activate it with itunes and see which firmware it has and then use the jailbreak software which fits for the firmware to jailbreak it, simple.
there a lots of jailbreak software for both mac and pc to chose. Be smart!
